Returned from the land of tireburners...

Rick and I returned from our fab vacay to London and France late Thursday night. Several friends had commented on the fact that we were visiting the land of tireburners, and I didn't quite understand what they meant before we left. Well, with the G-20 Summit ramping up while we were in London and then our mighty President in attendance there and then at the NATO Summit in France, I saw first hand what they meant.....PROTESTORS. The protesting began on Saturday morning, we had a front row seat as our hotel room looked right down onto Park Lane where the protestors turned to head to Hyde Park and Speaker's Corner.....they streamed through for over 2 hours.....the biggest and loudest group by far was the "Capitalism isn't Working" protestors.....my advice to them, move to N.Korea, China or Cuba you idiots! These were the rocket scientists that were all over the news on Wednesday (we were in France by then, thank the Lord) storming The City, financial district, of London, smashing windows and burning the proverbial tires. Then we see on the news when we got back to the States, the protesting was going crazy in France...less than a hundred miles from Reims, where we did some "touring" of our favorite champagne maisons and their caves. I'm seeing a trend here...hopefully the crazies didn't follow us home!

Burn Baby Burn

The remainder of the barn that took Rick down last year. I know it is sweet justice for Rick getting to use his favorite thing, fire, to finish off his nemesis.

The Safi Tribe's First Giveaway-Pay IT Forward.....

Here are the official rules: I will send a hand made gift to the first three people who leave a comment on this post requesting to join the PIF exchange. All the gifts will be made and sent out (sometime within the next year). How exciting to not know when your surprise package will arrive! What you need to do in return is pay it forward by making the same promise on your blog. This exchange is only open to those with active websites or blogs.

ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS PROMISE TO POST THIS SAME 'PAY IT FORWARD' MESSAGE ONTO YOUR BLOG, WHICH MUST BE ACTIVE IN ORDER TO PLAY. YOU WILL PAY IT FORWARD TO THREE PEOPLE WHO COMMENT ON YOUR BLOG.

Recap:1. The first three people who comment commit to the PIF thing. The gifts are supposed to be hand made. I know a lot of you are probably thinking that you can't get in on it because your aren't "crafty" enough. Hopefully the Pay It Forward Giveaway creator won't be mad at me but I'm thinking we can bend the official rules a tiny bit. If you really want in on it but don't feel like you can come up with a handmade gift on your own then you should just support someone you know that has a handmade crafty kind of business. Buy a gift from them...just don't head out to Target for your gifts...got it?

****I lifted the instructions straight from my friend Karen's blog @ Paperdoll Designs, Thanks for the verbage Fun Karen!**********

It's an enduring kind of love

This is what I endured last night because I REALLY love my husband and my kiddos! It wasn't actually half bad and mildly entertaining, minus the drunk dudes that sat behind us that told me in a drunken slur, "You're hot."....unbeknownst to Rick.....and were constantly trying to start "the wave". Oh, what we do for love! I guess this how Rick feels when I make him watch Big Love with me!

Tornado Tuesday

The following is a video that was virtually shot in our "backyard". It is shot from the Oak Cliff Fire Station that I can see from our back kitchen windows. After watching this, I am amazed that we didn't sustain any damage. Amazing.

Our house would be to the far right hand side of the screen. We have several friends that were seriously affected, though only materially, by this wicked storm. Please keep the Lindsays and Tompkins in your thoughts and prayers.

Ice Storm 2009

The boys and I have been holed up in the house since Monday at noon....It finally started actually snowing, not icing, at about 4:30pm today.....The boys were dying to go out into, so I took 20 minutes to bundle them both up and this is what we got!

The end.....
